Boston Cannons News Release

BOSTON, MA - April 27, 2011 - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, have announced a new partnership with Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), according to Cannons General Manager Kevin Barney. CHA will be the official hospital, official team doctor and official training and physical therapy partner of the Boston Cannons for the 2011 MLL Season.

Board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon Dr. Eric Launer has been named the Cannons head team physician, bringing 10 years of practice experience in advanced arthroscopic surgery, joint preservation, joint replacement surgery, and fractures of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. CHA's Adam Thomas and Keith Correia will be the primary athletic trainers for the Cannons.

Already involved in the Boston sports arena, Cambridge Health Alliance is the Official Sports Medicine Provider for the Boston Blazers of the National Lacrosse League, the Boston Breakers of Women's Professional Soccer, and the Boston Militia of Women's Tackle Football. CHA is also the Official Sports Medicine Provider for Bunker Hill Community College, Lesley University, and Revere High School.

"With this partnership, Cambridge Health Alliance will provide the most qualified medical staff and years of sports injury prevention and rehabilitation to our team," said Barney. "We know our players and coaches will receive only the best care, whether on the field during games or at a Cambridge Health Alliance facility. We look forward to a great first season and continuing the partnership long term."

"On behalf of all of the physicians, the trainers and therapists who will be involved, we are excited about working with the Boston Cannons," said Dr. Launer. "We look forward to our role in keeping the players healthy and performing at their best, to help ensure a successful season and help bring the Steinfeld Cup to Boston in 2011."
