The California Cougars, and newly named head coach Antonio Sutton, will officially kick off the new season as the defending PASL-Pro champions with a statewide search for new talent.

The 2009-10 arena soccer season is quickly approaching and the Cougars are searching for local talent to fill out their roster. The final tryout date is scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at Big League Dreams in Manteca, CA. The tryout will run from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The registration fee for all participants is $25. Call (209) 373-1550 for more information. Fans are encouraged to attend and meet the potential new Cougars. Several returning players from the 2008-09 championship squad are scheduled to attend the tryouts.

The Cougars added Hugo Brambila, Santos Arteaga, Renato Dos Reis, Dalitso Muluzi, Josh Copeland, David Vedder and Tebias Mason to their championship roster following the 2008-09 tryouts in early October.

Muluzi, Copeland and Vedder were all part of Stockton's playoff run. Vedder received several All-Leage Second Team votes and finished his rookie campaign with 38 blocks in 17 games. He netted nine goals and three assists for 12 points in 2008-09. Copeland recorded 13 blocks and 13 points over 18 games last season.

Brambila and Arteaga started the season as important pieces of the Cougars on field plan, but had their rookie seasons cut short due to injury.
