Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release
In a game that on paper showed that would be a great match it turned out that way on the pitch. Cincinnati wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. A pass to an unmarked Olivario on the right side made it easy for him to slot the ball into the left corner of the goal giving the Hawks the 1-0 lead in the 4th minute. Calgary came right back. Calgary kept the Cincinnati defense under pressure and in the 9th minute the pressure proved to be to much for the Hawks when a pass from Lemire set Zuniga up for an excellent finish. The 1st half continued on with Calgary having the edge with ball possession. With Calgary not having any luck on their chances at goal while allowing Cincinnati only 3 1st half shots the half ended with the score level at 1-1.
The 2nd half started with the game opening up. Both teams were mounting attacks at goal. Calgary got the lead in the 57th minute when Ledgerwood made a cross to Lemire who then one touched the ball into the net. With the score 2-1 in Calgary's favor, the Hawks were now on the attack wanting to get this game back in their favor. The Hawks kept piling on the shots. Persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when a cross from Lee found Nikocaj on the left side and he put the ball in off the upright to bring the Hawks level at 2-2. Calgary started to attack after this and in the 77th minute the tandem of Ledgerwood and Lemire would again score giving Calgary their 1st road win of the season, 3-2.
