Port Huron Flags News Release

(PORT HURON, MICH.) - The Port Huron Flags have a full schedule of events in front of them, including three home games this weekend and a host of player appearances in the following week.

Beginning with today, several team members will be at a player appearance at the Port Huron Library from 4:30 to 5:30. Flags players will read holiday books to children and participate in a craft session.

Tomorrow, the Flags host the Elmira Jackals at McMorran Arena, with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m. The Old Newsboys of the Port Huron Times Herald will be at the game to sell their commemorative papers, which are an annual fundraiser to provide holiday necessities for families in need. Additionally, the Old Newsboys are selling tickets for the game at $10 each, available in the Times Herald office.

On Saturday, the Quad City Mallards come to town, while the Flags recognize the boy and girl scouts in the area. The annual Scout Night promotion awards a unique patch to all troop members who attend the game, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Special musical guest Redhill, featuring Flags national anthem performer Julianne, will perform prior to gametime, starting at 7:25 p.m. They will be available during the game for autographs and CD purchases.

Sunday's festivities include a canned food drive, in conjunction with the Salvation Army. A non-perishable food item brought to the game earns a discount ticket at the door. Additionally, Santa Clause will be stopping by McMorran to take pictures with children and hear their wish lists. For a donation to the Salvation Army, children of all ages can take a picture with Santa and Slapshot, the Flags' friendly mascot. At 5 p.m., the puck drops against the Flags' arch rivals, Flint Generals.

Next Tuesday, Dec. 19, players will be at the YMCA to play floor hockey with the Young Fives program, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Later, from 3:15 to 4:45, they will also be in action at Edison Elementary.

Wednesday, Dec. 20 marks the Flags Annual Mall Meet-n-Greet promotion. From 6 to 8 p.m., the entire team will be at Birchwood Mall to sign autographs, talk to fans and give away prizes.

Finally, on Thursday, Dec. 21, players will return to the YMCA to participate in the special Holiday Camp program for young students who are out of school for Christmas break, from 1:30 - 3 p.m.
