Bussières suspended for 3 games

BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday, March 29, 2012 - The Disciplinary Prefect of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended today Raphaël Bussières for 2 additional games to the one already purged on March 28th. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on March 27th against the Victoriaville Tigres.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

The opponent: Coming out of his zone and skating toward centre ice. Passed the puck to a teammate next to the boards. Was injured on the play.

The player at fault: Pivoted, took a stride toward his opponent and hit him on the head while he was in a vulnerable position. Simultaneously hit the player's body and head. Propelled himself upward on the impact. Wasn't at his first offence.

The decision was rendered after reviewing the video of the incident, gathering the testimonies from the players and the organizations involved, reading the officials' report and consulting the independent committee in the matter of disciplinary sanctions.
