Burnett Moves Behind the Bench as Sundogs Assistant Coach

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs announced today that Gord Burnett will serve as Assistant Coach during their 2013-14 Central Hockey League season.

Burnett 32, joined the Sundogs last season where he collected one assist and 55 penalty minutes in 28 games before suffering a season ending injury. During the off-season Burnett has taken a-hands on approach in player recruitment and assisting the front office in sales. "It's exciting to see him transition from player to Front Office", said Sundogs General Manager, Chris Presson. "He's enthusiastic about learning the business and has proven to be a great asset to our team."

Burnett, spent seven seasons from 2006-13 playing for such teams as the Utah Grizzlies, Elmira Jackals, Trenton Devils, Phoenix Roadrunners, Victoria Salmon Kings and the Colorado Eagles all of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He also played for the Youngstown Steelheads and Laredo Bucks of the CHL. Over the course of his career he has collected six goals, 35 assists and 964 penalty minutes in 307 games.

Burnett expressed, "I am excited about the opportunity to move into the coaching world and learn from coach Colley, I have to thank Chris Presson, Kevin Colley, and the Sundogs Organization for allowing me the opportunity to stay in the game I love. I look forward to the new challenges that coaching presents, and a great season!"
