Bulls Tender Local Area Forward for 2004-2005
April 22, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Billings Bulls News Release
The Billings Bulls have signed Billings native Scott Dana to a tender for the upcoming season. Dana, a 5'11" 180 lb forward, played for the Kootenai Colts of the NORPAC league last season and for the Bozeman IceDogs two years ago. The organization is excited to bring a local product into the organization.
Head Coach Mike Aikens is pleased to give Dana the chance to play in front of the home crowd. "Scott played one game with us last season, had a goal and has done everything I've asked of him," Aikens said.
Aikens said he didn't want to have a Billings player on the roster just to have one. "We have always wanted someone from Billings on our team, but I wanted to make sure that kid earned his way on," says Aikens. "We didn't want to put him into a situation where he wasn't able to succeed last season. Scott has been practicing with us all spring and certainly deserves it."
Dana has two years of eligibility left in junior hockey. Aikens thinks he could have an impact next season, especially since he feels it might be a rebuilding year up front. The Bulls are losing at least five forwards, all of which are '83 birth dates.
Dana had 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in only 16 games last season for Kootenai.
The Gold Cup begins next week in Frisco, Texas. The Bulls would like to wish Bismarck, Texas, Springfield and Fairbanks luck, as the Frozen Four in the NAHL gets under way.
