Billings Bulls News Release
The Billings Bulls are happy to announce that forward John Stockler has committed to the University of Connecticut for the 2004-2005 Season. The Princeton, MN native is very excited for the opportunity to play for a program in the Atlantic Hockey Conference.
Stockler started out the season in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters. He decided to come back to Billings in mid-October, which he said was the right move for him at the time. Last season, Stockler had 26 goals and 41 assists with 27 more points in the playoffs. His numbers this year aren't too far behind, with 17 goals and 34 assists, second on the team in scoring.
Head Coach Mike Aikens is very pleased for John and what his future entails. "We are extremely happy for John to get a chance to play at a good program. We are confident John will produce at the next level just as he has at every level of hockey," Aikens said, "He is a gifted two-way player who has been a big part of our program. Although he will be missed, we are happy that he will become a big part of UCONN's future."
Stockler is the fourth member of Billings to commit to a college. Josh Print, Bryan Becker and Blake Turnquist verbally committed to play at the Air Force Academy.
The Bulls will take on the Helena Bighorns Thursday, March 25th at 7:05 p.m. in the first round of the Western Division Semi-Finals. The Bulls will host the first two games and then travel to Helena for Games 3 and 4. (if necessary) Billings has not faced Helena since February 11th and the Bulls will try to regain the Borne Cup, which has eluded them since the 1998-1999 season.
