Buffalo, Calgary can clinch playoff berths this weekend

The Buffalo Bandits and Calgary Roughnecks each have an opportunity this weekend to punch their tickets to the 2009 National Lacrosse League Playoffs. The East and West Division leading clubs look to be the first teams to clinch playoff berths. A total of eight teams will advance to the Playoffs, four from each division.

Buffalo enters the weekend's games with a record of 8-3. The Bandits would clinch a playoff berth this weekend with the combination of a win, a Philadelphia loss and at least one Toronto loss. Buffalo hosts New York on Saturday, while Philadelphia hosts Colorado. Toronto plays twice this weekend, at Calgary (Friday) and at Edmonton (Saturday).

Calgary enters the upcoming weekend with a league-best record of 8-2. The Roughnecks would clinch a playoff berth this weekend with two wins, OR with one win and at least one San Jose loss, OR with two San Jose losses and an Edmonton loss. Calgary hosts Toronto on Friday, then plays at Minnesota on Saturday. San Jose has a home and home series with Portland on Saturday & Sunday, and Edmonton hosts Toronto on Saturday.

All eight playoff berths remain up for grabs as the 2009 regular season enters its final four weekends of games. Be sure to watch all of the action live on the NLL Network at NLL.com. The playoffs will open on the weekend of May 1st.
