Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release
LAKE CHARLES - Just one game into the young 2008 season the defending IFL Champion Louisiana Swashbucklers have been forced to make changes at the quarterback position.
Promising QB Donald Allen has left the team for personal reasons as he returns home to New Orleans to work out some issues with his family. Allen was solid in his first and only outing at the helm for the Bucs, completing 9 of 24 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 23 yards and another score. The Swashbucklers have placed Allen on the IR in anticipation of his return.
In the mean time the team will turn to Lake Charles native Alvin Bartie, another solid performer from game 1, and Head Coach Darnell Lee is bringing in another QB to fill the void left by Allen in, Bruce Jones. Jones is a 6'1" 190 QB from Tallahassee, FL. He played college ball at Fergus Falls College in Minnesota and played last season with the London Silverbacks of the NAFL.
Swashbuckler fans can get a preview of what these two QB's bring to the table this Saturday night at 7pm at the Lake Charles Civic Center as the Swashbucklers host the Purple and White game.
