
Bucks Win, Earn Five of Six Points on Weekend

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Amarillo Gorillas 4-2 Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks won their second straight game to improve to 21-15-8 (50 points) on the season. Laredo remains one point behind Texas for third place in the Southern Conference thanks to the Brahmas win over Bossier-Shreveport.
Kevin Desfosses stopped 41 of 43 shots he faced to pick up his fifth win in a Bucks uniform while Jeff Bes picked up two points (1-1=2). Laredo went 2-0-1 and picked up five out of six points in their three-game weekend.
Laredo (11-6-5 at home) was outshot 43-24 in the game.
The Bucks jumped out in front of the Gorillas and took a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel picked up right where he left off the night before when he gave Laredo a 1-0 lead 8:57 into the first. Dieude-Fauvel hammered in a slap shot from the left point to pick up his eighth of the year.
Bes put the Bucks up 2-0 with 2:14 left in the first period when he slammed in a slap shot from the top of the slot. The goal was Bes' 14th of the season.
Laredo was outshot in the first period 11-8.
The Bucks went up 3-0 when they struck on the power-play 7:33 into the second period when Darryl Smith jammed in a rebound on the right side of the crease. The goal was Smith's 24th of the season.
The Gorillas (17-24-6) struck for two goals in 17 seconds midway through the second period to cut the Bucks lead to 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Jason Chafe (13:01) and Austin Sutter (13:17) lit the lamp for Amarillo in the second as the Gorillas outshot Laredo 18-8.
Chafe tipped in David Nimmo's shot from the point to put the Gorillas on the board while Sutter pulled up at the right circle and scored on a blistering slap shot.
Mike Looby scored an empty-net goal from the length of the ice with 40 seconds left to make it 4-2.
Tomas Lohtander stopped 20 of 23 shots to suffer the loss for Amarillo.
Serge Dube (healthy scratch) and Paul Elliott (lower-body injury) were scratched from Saturday's game. Dube will remain on the active roster until at least Tuesday while Elliott is listed as day-to-day.
