Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced on Tuesday that they have signed forward Matt Robinson for the 2010-11 season. Robinson spent the last four seasons in the ECHL.

In his first four professional seasons the 25-year-old Robinson has put up a total of 144 points (74-70144) in 194 games while spending time with three ECHL teams.

Last season Robinson had his most productive season as a professional as he set career highs in goals (31), assists (33) and points (64) while splitting time with the Stockton Thunder and Johnstown Chiefs. In last seasons playoffs Robinson put up 14 points (6-814) in 14 games for the Thunder.

"Matt is a player that we are looking at to help our offense a lot this season," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He's fast, he can shoot the puck, he handles it well and he's smart. He can make a big impact for us this season."

The 6'1'', 185 pound Robinson played in 12 games (3-69) for Johnstown last season before being released and then signed by Stockton. With the Thunder he played in 51 games (28-2755), including 12 multi-point games, and helped lead them deep into the playoffs. Robinson was named Sherwood-Hockey ECHL player of the week for December 7th.

In the 2008-09 campaign Robinson, from Surrey, British Columbia, played in just 14 games for Johnstown picking up nine points (3-69). Robinson suffered a season-ending injury on November 16th forcing him to miss the remainder of the year.

Robinson spent his first two professional seasons (2006-2008) with the Alaska Aces (ECHL) where he scored a total of 71 points (40-3171) in 117 games.

In 2007-08 Robinson picked up 37 points (19-1837) and 47 PIM's in 58 games, and scored three points (1-23) in nine playoff games that season. During his rookie campaign in 2006-07 Robinson notched 34 points (21-1334) and had 52 PIM's in 59 games, and scored three points (2-13) in 14 playoff games that season.

"Matt was being recruited by a lot of teams this offseason and we are very lucky to have signed him," Ruskowski said. "He will be looked at as another leader on the ice this season for us."

Prior to turning pro Robinson played three seasons of junior hockey spending time in the BCHL and WHL. In 174 junior games Robinson scored 150 points (79-71150) and had 183 PIM's with the Surrey Eagles (BCHL), Vancouver Giants (WHL) and Regina Pats (WHL).

Robinson is the 16th Buck signed for the 2010-11 season.

The Bucks will start their ninth CHL season on October 15th with their home opener October 23rd against Rio Grande Valley at Laredo Energy Arena. Season tickets are on sale now for the 2010-11 season. Call 718-BUCK (2825) to place our order now.
