Bucks Sign College Winger

LAREDO, Texas - On Monday the 2006 CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks announced the signing of forward Neil Clark. Clark spent the last three seasons playing college hockey with the Manhattanville Valiants, an NCAA Division III program, in Purchase, NY. He is the third player signed by the Bucks this off season. Clark, 6'2" 210 pounds, is a native of Coquitlam, British Columbia. A transfer from Iona College after his freshman season, Clark recorded 18 goals and 20 assists in his three seasons with the Valiants.
"I like his size and his skating ability," said Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski. "Guys have to be able to skate well in the CHL to compete and Neil has shown the ability to do this. I also like his competitiveness and the way he is physical on the ice."
Clark earned a spot on the ECAC West All-Academic team in three consecutive seasons and worked with various youth hockey groups while in school. He graduated this spring with a B.A. in Finance.
Clark began his Manhattanville career with six goals and five assists as a sophomore. However, his production dipped his junior season with one goal and seven assists in 13 games.
Clark rebounded with an outstanding senior campaign at Manhattanville. He amassed 11 goals and eight assists in 25 games ranking sixth on the team in scoring. In addition he scored three game-winning goals and fired home the lone goal for the Valiants in the NCAA Tournament game against the Elmira Soaring Eagles.
During his tenure at Manhattanville, Clark played on both the power play and penalty kill units.
Clark said the increase of regular season games should help him continue his development on the ice.
"I think you get into a better rhythm with 64 games," said Clark. "In college if you go on a cold streak of eight or nine games, your season is half done and it's tough. In the pros, you can be a bit more patient and ride out a few bad games."
Clark played three years of junior hockey in the BCHL prior to attending college.
