
Bucks One Win From President's Cup Championship

LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks won three games against Bossier-Shreveport this past week and now stand on the verge of the 2006 CHL President's Cup Championship. Laredo won Game One on Friday 4-2 at the Laredo Entertainment Center as Jeff Bes had a hat trick. On Saturday night Bes scored the game winner in the third period as the Bucks won 3-1 in Game Two. Tuesday night it was Bes again, this time in overtime, as Laredo rallied for a 2-1 victory in Game Three at the CenturyTel Center in Louisiana. Laredo leads the Mudbugs in the 2006 CHL President's Cup Finals three games to none lead in the best of seven series. Game Four is Friday night in Bossier-City at the CenturyTel Center as the Bucks look to close out the series. 2005-06 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo went 1-2-0 against Bossier-Shreveport this year. The Bucks beat the Mudbugs 3-1 on 12/03/05 at the LEC as Serge Dube scored a pair of goals. Bossier-Shreveport shutout the Bucks 3-0 on 01/13/06 at the CenturyTel Center. On 02/11/06 the Mudbugs defeated the Bucks 3-2 also at the CenturyTel Center.
2004-05: The Bucks were 0-1-1 against the Mudbugs. The Bucks lost 3-2 in a shootout on 11/11/04 at the LEC. The Mudbugs beat the Bucks 4-3 on 01/28/05 at the CenturyTel Center.
All-time: The Bucks are 3-7-1 against Bossier-Shreveport, including a 3-2-1 record at the LEC and a 0-5-0 record at the CenturyTel Center in regular season play. The Bucks defeated the Mudbugs in the 2004 CHL President's Cup Finals four games to three.

BUCKS OVERTIME PLAYOFF MOJO
- The Bucks beat Bossier-Shreveport 2-1 in sudden death in Game Three of the Finals on Tuesday. The Bucks have won at least one overtime game in each playoff series in franchise history with the exception of last year's Southern Conference Finals against Amarillo. Laredo clinched their first round series this year over Rio Grande Valley with a 3-2 overtime win on 04/11 in Game Six when forward Jeff Bes potted the game winner, then the Bucks clinched their Southern Conference Finals victory with a 4-3 double overtime win over Odessa on 04/22 in Game Five when Hans Benson scored.
THIRD PERIOD RALLY
- The Bucks rallied for a 2-1 overtime victory on Tuesday in Game Three. Laredo trailed 1-0 after 40 minutes, but rookie forward Todd Griffith scored 5:48 into the third to tie the game and then forward Jeff Bes won it 1:57 into overtime. The Bucks are 1-1 when trailing after two periods in the post-season.
CHL RECORD TYING
- Bucks forward Jeff Bes has five game winning goals this year in the post-season, including all three game winning goals in the Finals so far. He has tied the All-Time CHL playoff record of five, set by Stephane Larocque in 1997. Larocque had five GWG in the Fort Worth Fire's championship season, beating Memphis 4 games to 3 in the Finals, with Larocque scoring the game and championship winning goal in Game Seven.

- Laredo is 9-2 when scoring first this post-season. The 11 first goals by the Bucks are the most in the CHL playoffs. The opposition has scored first in just three of 14 total playoff games however the Mudbugs have scored first in back-to-back games in the Finals.

- Laredo leads the President's Cup Finals 3-0 over Bossier-Shreveport. The Bucks have swept two series in franchise history. Laredo swept Rio Grande Valley 3-0 in the first round in 2004 and then swept Amarillo 4-0 in the Southern Conference Finals in 2005.

- The Bucks are 8-1 all-time in games in which they can eliminate their opponent in a playoff series. - Bucks forward Jeff Bes has 20 assists, which is one shy of the CHL playoff record of 21 held by Mick Kempffer of Columbus in 1998.

- Bucks forward Jeff Bes has 29 points which is two shy of the CHL playoff record of 31 held by Ron Handy of Wichita in 1995.
WHEN BUCKS GRAB 2-0 LEAD IN SERIES
- The Bucks are 4-0 all-time in playoff series in which they have won the first two games. Laredo took a 2-0 lead over Rio Grande Valley in the first round this year and won the series 4-2, then grabbed a 2-0 lead over Odessa in the Southern Conference Finals and won the series 4-1.

It was the fifth game winning goal of the playoff for Bes, tying the CHL Playoff record, and also his third straight in the Finals. With the win Laredo takes a three games to none lead in the best of seven series. Dov Grumet-Morris was phenomenal stopping 32 of 33 and improving to 7-2. Ken Carroll took the hard luck loss allowing two goals on 29 shots and falling to 0-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 2, Bossier-Shreveport 1 in sudden death.

- GAME TWO-----04/29/06 - SATURDAY - vs. BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT - The Laredo Bucks were tremendous on special teams play as they gutted out a 3-1 win over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in Game Two of the President's Cup Finals on Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center in front of 6,252 fans. The Bucks were 2-5 on the power play, including the game winning goal by forward Jeff Bes in the third period, and were a perfect 7-7 on the penalty kill. With the win Laredo takes a two games to none lead in the best of seven series. David Lemanowicz was outstanding in net as he stopped 24 of 25 shots and got the win to improve to 4-1 in the playoffs. Ken Carroll allowed two goals on 37 shots and took the loss to fall to 0-1. FINAL SCORE Laredo 3, Bossier-Shreveport 1.

- GAME ONE-----04/28/06 - FRIDAY - vs. BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT - The Laredo Bucks got a hat trick from forward Jeff Bes as they beat the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-2 in Game One of the President's Cup Finals at the Laredo Entertainment Center in front of 5,629 fans on Friday night. Bes recorded the Bucks third hat trick of the post-season as Laredo took a one game to none lead in the best of seven series. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 20 of 22 shots and got the win to improve to 6-2. David Cacciola allowed four goals on 30 shots and took the loss to fall to 8-3. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Bossier-Shreveport 2.
