The Bucks trip up North has seen their lead in the Southern Confernce fall to just five points over Arizona. Laredo comes into today's game still needing three points to clinch the South's top spot in the playoffs. A Bucks win today will drop the magic number to one point.
Last night the Bucks dropped their second straight game to the 'Hounds, this time by a 3-1 score. Andy Franck was stellar in net for Youngstown, stopping 25 of 26 Bucks shots. The Steelhounds scored twice in the first period, and once in the third. Rookie of the year finalist Andrew Desjardins scored the only Bucks goal in the second period. It was his 22nd tally of the season.
In the Bucks two losses to Youngstown so far this weekend, they have scored just three goals in the two games. Laredo has gone one-for-13 on the power-play in the two defeats.
Dustin Traylen is scheduled to start in net today against his former goaltending team mate Kevin Beech. Traylen is looking for his 24th win in net, while Beech is vying for his 15th win of the season. Beech was traded to Youngstown by the Bucks on January 25th.
Youngstown comes into today's game 6-0-1 in their last seven games to move them into fourth place by themselves in the Northern Conference playoff race, just one point behind Texas for third.
Youngstown's Chris Richards (22-50=72) has an eight game point streak.
