Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks Majority Owner Glenn Hart held a Town Hall Meeting Wednesday night at the Laredo Energy Arena.
The future of Laredo Bucks hockey was put into the hands of the Laredo community Wednesday evening. Mr. Hart addressed several issues that face the organization at the meeting, one of which is the number of season tickets. Mr. Hart asked for all season ticket holders to renew their seats by 5pm of Friday May 20, 2011. Mr. Hart will look at the number of seats purchased for the upcoming season as a point of reference as to whether or not to continue. "Our season ticket holders have been the Bucks MVP's for nine seasons, and I believe they will once again prove that they are the best fans in the CHL" stated Glenn Hart. The Bucks also unveiled a new pricing and seating structure that is needed to ensure their future. Glenn Hart added, "Myself and my fellow co-owners are only asking for a fighting chance at a profit."
Another major announcement was made during the meeting. Terry Ruskowski will not be returning as President/GM/Head Coach of the Bucks. "At the end of the season Glenn and I discussed what would be best for the future of hockey in Laredo. While I did not want to leave, I felt that it would be best for the future of hockey in Laredo. I will always cherish my time in Laredo. But the time has come for me to pursue other opportunities" stated Coach Ruskowski. "I would like to thank the fans and the City of Laredo for the tremendous support they have given me and the Laredo Bucks for the past 9 years" added Coach Ruskowski. Majority Owner Glenn Hart announced the new Head Coach, Mr. Serge Dube. Serge Dube has been a player for the Laredo Bucks since 2002. He will begin his tenure as Head Coach for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.
An additional issue was addressed Wednesday, when Glenn Hart stated that the Laredo Bucks will remain a member of the Central Hockey League. Other options were explored, but the best option was for the Bucks to stay in the CHL.
Glenn Hart ended the Town Hall Meeting by stating, "I have always said that we have the greatest fans in the league. We all must do our part to keep hockey in Laredo",
