Bucks Battle Beef with Playoff Berth in the Balance

The Bismarck Bucks (4-6) and Omaha Beef (4-7) are locked in a battle for their playoff lives. The Beef close out their regular season on Saturday, while the Bucks have one more game remaining in Sioux City. Bismarck has played six straight games - four straight losses - that were decided on their last play of the game. That includes a 33-32 win over the Beef and a 79-78 loss to the Beef.

The Bismarck Bucks have had two weeks to think about their 59-58 loss to the Wichita Force, one of a series of games they could have won. For weeks, defensive end Marquis Smith and running back Trey Boone have been important players for the Bucks. Both were recognized by the CIF with Player of the Week awards for Week 11. Smith was defensive Player of the Week for his six tackles, two sacks, five tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick. Boone, the special teams Player of the Week, had five kicoff returns for 124 yards and a touchdown and scored five touchdowns in all.
