Bruce Massey Jr., Garrett Williamson Named Players of the Week
December 31, 2018 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) News Release
The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Bruce Massey of the Cape Breton Highlanders has been named Player of the Week for the week ending December 30, 2018. This is the second time this week that Massey has earned this honour.
Massey, a 6'3" guard who played collegiately at Middle Tennessee State, averaged 26.0 points and 8.7 rebounds in three Cape Breton victories, helping the Highlanders move to within 1 1/2 games of the NBL division lead.
"Like our team feels," said Highlanders president Tyrone Levingston, "being in first place is not the ultimate goal, our goals are getting into the finals. The guys are working extremely hard, they're trusting each other and Bruce is the captain of the team, and the team is trusting in Bruce. They're all elevating in the faith that they have in each other."
The National Basketball League of Canada is also pleased to announce that Garrett Williamson of the London Lightning has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending December 30, 2018.
Williamson, a 6'5" guard who played collegiately at St. Joseph's (Pennsylvania), averaged 22.0 points per game in two London contests.
"It's a well-deserved honour for him," said Lightning head coach Elliott Ethington, "Garrett carries himself well both on and off the court. He attacked the rim with reckless abandon this week, and it's a consistent effort to do the best he possibly can and to not settle. He's turning into an all-around player for us out there, and he's a big contributor in the games this week."
