HARLINGEN, Texas - Brian Nichols hit a game-tying triple in the sixth inning, then scored on a wild pitch as the Brownsville Toros rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Edinburg Coyotes on Monday afternoon in the Texas Winter League.

With the victory, the Toros (4-2) moved into first place by a half game over Harlingen (4-3).

Justin Miller (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings, striking out the side in the sixth inning, to record the victory. Jason Moody made it interesting in the seventh with a leadoff single and walk, but retired the next three batters to save the victory.

Rosalio Rosales, in his Texas Winter League debut, pitched five effective innings for Edinburg and left with the 3-2 lead. Coyotes reliever Charlie Ibarra (0-2) retired the first two batters in the sixth, but Kevin MacIlvane singled to start the winning rally. Nichols went the opposite way with his game-tying triple and scored on Ibarra's wild pitch.

Edinburg scored two runs in the first inning for the early lead off Brownsville starter Brad Turney. Charlie Weisser singled home a run and Eric Gonzalez, who was intentionally walked, scored on a throwing error by second baseman Nick Sanchez.

Nichols went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. He doubled in the second inning and scored his team's first run on Dickerson's single to left. The Toros trimmed the lead to one in the fifth inning when R.C. Dickerson was hit by a pitch, moved to third on Moody's single, and scored on a double-play grounder.

Standings after Monday's games: Brownsville 4-2, Harlingen 4-3, Laredo 3-4, Edinburg 2-4.

Tuesday's schedule: Laredo vs. Edinburg at 11 a.m., and Brownsville vs. Harlingen at 3:30 p.m.
