Kenai River Brown Bears News Release

SOLDOTNA, AK - The Brown Bears are proud to welcome defenseman Shayne Monahan to the organization. Shayne is a product of the prestigious Omaha AAA U18 program that has been a source for developing players ready for the transition to the NAHL. Coach David Wilkie states, "Shayne has been a tremendous player for Omaha AAA the last 2 seasons. He is an outstanding 2 way defenseman with very good puck skills and his best hockey is in front of him. We wish him the best in his junior career and we know that Kenai River is not only getting a very good player but an even better person off the ice."

Brown Bear Director of Scouting Rich Michalowski adds, "Everyone in our organization who has come into contact with Shayne has been impressed with his maturity and willingness to be the best player he can be not only for himself but also for the team. His skating and ability to move the puck will translate well on our big ice. However I agree with Coach Wilkie when he says that Shayne's best hockey is ahead of him because I know he will put the work in to improve every aspect of his game and will be receptive to Coach Worlton's instructions. We are lucky to have Shayne."

On tendering with the Brown Bears, Shayne says, "I am honored that the Kenai River staff recognized me as a player that can come in and make an impact to their organization. I am thrilled to be a brown bear, and want to thank my coaches at Omaha AAA, teammates, and family for all the help and support they have given me."
