Sioux City Explorers News Release
Sioux City, IA: The Sioux City Explorers announced today that shortstop Todd Brock has signed a contract with the Florida Marlins. After playing five seasons of independent baseball, Brock will get his first chance with an organization next year when he reports for Spring Training.
Brock had one of his best years as a professional in 2004. He finished the season hitting .303 with 24 doubles, 5 triples and 7 homeruns. He drove in 50 runs while also stealing 20 bases. Brock also added stability in the field with a .956 fielding percentage.
The 26-year-old from Georgetown, DE came to the Explorers in an off-season trade that involved the Bangor Lumberjacks, Lincoln Saltdogs and the X's. In that deal, Sioux City sent Lance Woodcock to the Saltdogs and picked up Brock from Bangor.
