November 20, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
The Rochester Knighthawks have announced the signing of Brock Levick to a one-year deal. The 23-year-old forward will join the team for Training Camp, which opens Saturday in Rochester.
"It's a huge honor," said Levick. "I am really excited to go to camp and am grateful for the opportunity."
Levick was one of the top performers at the 2014 NLL Combine, which preceded this year's NLL Entry Draft. During the past two years, he has played for the Brampton Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse and for the Senior "B" Brooklin Merchants. Prior to making the jump to senior lacrosse, he registered impressive numbers at the Junior "B" level, scoring 111 goals and adding 124 assists in just 83 games.
"He has had a couple of good summers in Brampton," said Knighthawks Assistant Captain Mike Kirk, who played with Levick on the Excelsiors. "He is a hard-working young kid."
The Newmarket, Ontario native played his collegiate lacrosse at Medaille College. In 2014, he was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Mavericks in goals with 47, which was good enough for second in the conference. He also finished tied for fourth in the NEAC with 55 points.
It was the second Offensive Player of the Year honor of his career, having first captured the award in 2012. Levick was also named to the NEAC All-Conference First Team for the third straight season. He ended his career at Medaille as the school's all-time leader in goals (228) and points (294), while finishing fourth in assists (66).
"I really started to love the game," said Levick about his time at Medaille. "I learned the importance of training and it taught me how to take my game to the next level."
Levick will get his first shot at an NLL Training Camp Saturday when the Knighthawks hit the turf at Total Sports Experience in East Rochester. Rochester will practice from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the 435 West Commercial St. location. The team will also practice from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
"I am just looking for him to come in and take advantage of the opportunity," said Knighthawks Head Coach Mike Hasen. "We expect him to compete and push the other guys. That is what camp is all about."
It will be a lot of work packed into a weekend, but Levick said he is ready for the challenge.
"I might be in awe for the first couple of minutes. Cody Jamieson and Dan Dawson are two of my idols," said Levick. "It will be exciting to play alongside of them."
