Baltimore Brigade News Release
BALTIMORE, MD - The Arena Football League announced today that Baltimore Brigade defensive lineman Darryl Cato-Bishop has been named Week 13 AFL Defensive Player of the Week for his instrumental performance in the Brigade's 35-28 victory over the Blackjacks during their regular season finale.
Cato-Bishop racked up two sacks for a loss of 11 yards and one forced fumble against Atlantic City last week. The first sack for a loss of 8 yards contributed to forcing the Blackjacks to attempt a field goal. The Blackjacks missed and the Brigade scooped the ball up for a score. The second sack of the night prevented the Blackjacks from scoring on a fourth down at the end of the second quarter when the Blackjacks were on Baltimore's 1-yard line.
Cato-Bishop, a five-year veteran, led the league in total sacks with 7.5 (6 solo) and ranked second in forced fumbles with 4 and total tackles for loss with 8 during the regular season. Cato-Bishop registered a sack in five games this season and had two sacks in two games. The Brigade had six players named to the AFL Player of the Week throughout the course of the regular season, five of which were defensive players.
The Baltimore Brigade (7-5) enter the 2019 AFL postseason as the No. 4 seed to take on the No. 1 seed Albany Empire (10-2) for the home-and-home playoff series. Baltimore will play the first game of the series at Times Union Center in Albany, NY on Saturday, July 27 at 7:00 p.m. and will host the Empire for the second game of the series on Saturday, August 3 at 7 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD.
