Brigade win, 59-56, on last-second field goal in Albany
The Baltimore Brigade (6-2) defeated the Albany Empire (5-3), 59-56, thanks to a game-winning field goal from kicker Mark Lewis with two seconds left in regulation. With the win, Baltimore takes over sole possession of first place in the Arena Football League. Brigade quarterback Randy Hippeard was named the game's Most Valuable Player for his eight-touchdown performance.
Brigade and Valor meet Friday night at Royal Farms Arena
The Brigade return to action this Friday, June 15, taking on the Washington Valor at 7 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Baltimore is 2-0 against Washington this season, though the combined margin of victory is just six points.
Thompkins' sets personal and Brigade highs against Empire
Brigade wideout Brandon Thompkins was named Offensive Player of the Game for his performance against Albany this weekend. Thompkins, a seven-year AFL veteran, recorded a career-high and Brigade-record 17 receptions for 159 yards and three touchdowns. The 159 yards and three touchdowns are each season highs for Thompkins. The Arkansas State alumnus now has five touchdowns in his last two games.
