New York Liberty News Release

NEW YORK - The WNBA announced today that New York Liberty forward, Breanna Stewart, has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, August 28 to Sunday, September 3.

Stewart led New York to a 3-0 week, including wins over the No. 1 and 3 seeds, and extended the team's winning streak to six games which tied a then season-best (currently seven).

Over that stretch, she tallied double-doubles in all three contests, averaging 20.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists while shooting 46.4% from the field.

On August 28, Breanna helped power New York past Las Vegas behind a well-balanced performance of 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks. That night, she became the New York Liberty's franchise leader in single-season rebounding, having already eclipsed the Liberty's season scoring record on August 24.

Stewart recorded another near triple-double on September 1 against Connecticut, finishing with 14 points on 63.6% (7-11) shooting from the floor, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in only 26 minutes of action.

On September 3 in Chicago, the New York-native posted a game-high 26 points on 45.5% (10-22) shooting from the field, a season-high-tying 14 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks. Her 26-point, 14-rebound performance secured her 19th double-double of the season, taking less than 23 minutes to tally 16 points and 10 boards.

This weekly honor is Stewart's 16th of her career, her sixth this season, and the 55th all-time in Liberty history.
