Orange County Breakers News Release
Marina del Rey resident Lester Cook beat Dusan Vemic in the final set of the night, 5-2 in men's singles, in his Newport Beach Breakers debut to rally the Breakers to a 20-18 victory over the Sacramento Capitals in the Breakers' 2010 World TeamTennis home opener at The Tennis Club Newport Beach. The Breakers have now beaten Sacramento, their chief rival, seven consecutive matches dating back to 2008. The Breakers defeated Sacramento 24-16 Monday night in Sacramento to open the WTT season.
Julie Ditty and Marie-Eve Pelletier won the Breakers' other set of the night, 5-1 in women's doubles over former UCLA product Riza Zalameda and Long Beach resident Vania King, who just returned from London after winning the Wimbledon women's doubles championship on Saturday. The Breakers' next match is at The Tennis Club Newport Beach on Friday against the Kansas City Explorers. Friday's match is Junior Night. General admission tickets are $10, or a special Family 4-Pack (four general admission tickets) is available for $25.
