Florida Fire Frogs News Release
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Florida State League announced the Players of the Week for the week of June 4-10 on Monday, and Braxton Davidson has been named the Offensive Player of the Week. Davidson becomes the first Fire Frog to earn Player of the Week honors in 2018, and third overall, joining Austin Riley and Enderson Franco.
The 21-year-old hit .400 over seven games against the Bradenton Marauders and Jupiter Hammerheads. Six of the first baseman's 10 hits went for extra bases, including four home runs. Of the four long balls, three came over the weekend against Jupiter at Osceola County Stadium, including the North Carolina native's first career multi-home run performance in game one of a doubleheader on June 9.
During the three-game series against the hammerheads, the 2014 first-round draft pick went 6-for-9 with six runs scored, two doubles, three homers and seven RBI. All seven of the left-handers runs driven in came with two outs against the Miami Marlins affiliate.
Florida opens up a four-game series against the Marauders at home on Monday night, leading into the All-Star break in Tampa.
