
Braves rally past Tides

Norfolk, VA- The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 8-6 Friday at The Diamond. The Braves scored three runs in the eighth inning after the Tides scored five in the top half to beat the Tides for the second straight day.
The Tides grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a home run by Oscar Salazar. Richmond jumped in front with two runs in the fifth. Josh Anderson knocked in a run with a ground out and Brent Lillibridge followed with an RBI single. Richmond stretched the lead to 5-1 with three runs in the sixth. Clint Sammons doubled a run in and Wes Timmons knocked in two with a double. The Tides batted around to grab a 6-5 lead in the eighth. Luis Terrero doubled two in. Chris Roberson and Mike Costanzo had RBI singles and Chris Heintz put the Tides in front with a sac fly. Richmond came right back in the home half. Lillibridge put the Braves back in front with a two run single. Brandon Jones capped the scoring with an RBI single.
Andrew Shibilo earned the win. Esteban Yan took the loss. Mike Hampton started for Richmond, seeing his first action in a regular season game since August 19, 2005. He tossed three scoreless innings. Lillibridge and Timmons each had three hits for the Braves. Four Tides had two hits.
The Braves and Tides continue their series Saturday at The Diamond at 7 PM. Damian Moss is scheduled to pitch for Richmond against the Tides Garrett Olson.
