
Boxing Returns to Southwest University Park

EL PASO, TEXAS - Leg Up Entertainment and Ringside Ticket are bringing boxing back to Southwest University Park on Friday, June 28 in Bouts at the Ballpark.
Bouts at the Ballpark includes two main events featuring Fernando "El Feroz" Vargas Jr., vying for the Super Welterweight WBC Fedcar Championship title, and Nathan "El Morenito" Rodriguez, competing for the Featherweight title. Their opponents and undercards, including professional and amateur boxers from the region, will be announced later.
Bouts at the Ballpark gates open at 6 p.m. and fights start at 7 p.m. The fights will be streamed worldwide on DAZN.
Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at the Southwest University Park Durango Box Office, online at SouthwestUniversityPark.com, and by phone at 915-533-BASE (2273).
Season Seat Members will be given the first opportunity to purchase tickets starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18. Season Seat Members will be instructed via email on how they can purchase their tickets.
Fernando Jr. (14-0, 13 knockouts) is the son of former two-time Middleweight World Champion and 1996 Olympian Fernando Vargas Sr., who had memorable fights with Oscar De Le Hoya and Sugar Shane Mosley. Vargas Jr. is a skilled boxer with one-punch knockout power and like his father, he is an aggressive and ferocious fighter who is very popular with Latino fans.
Rodriguez (13-0, 8 knockouts), who is from California, is also popular with Latinos and is a fighter with fast hands and good power.
This is the second combat fight in a year at Southwest University Park and the first boxing match at Southwest University Park since El Pasoan Jennifer Haan defended her World Featherweight Title on April 29, 2016.
