Boxing And Basketball In Houston - Enter Roy Jones, Jr.
May 31, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Houston, TX. The off season has been very interesting for the ABA Houston Takers. First, the announcement of the development of a new arena. Then, the hiring of new Head Coachg Sam Smith. And then, the announcement about 81-year old Howard Judah, a local legend, who will debut his skills on the hardwood this fall. To top it off, said team owner Larry Leonard II, "We just got an email from Roy Jones, Jr.'s camp that Roy may make an attempt at a comeback to the sport of basketball as a Houston Taker. All the terms are still being ironed out and we are negotiating with them the terms and agreements that we hope to be in place by next week. If this actually becomes a reality, this off season, then it will be the topping for an interesting summer for the Houston Takers...and it's only the first of many exciting things to come."
