Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League announced that forward Kerry Bowman will return for the 2009-10 season. Per team policy, details were not disclosed.
Bowman (6-0, 190 lbs) will don an Icehawks jersey for the third consecutive season. Last season, he tallied 19 points (7g, 12a) in 71 games. He first came to Port Huron as an amateur at the tail end of the 2007-08 campaign after four years at Mercyhurst College in the NCAA. In that stint, he added two assists in seven regular season games and scored his first professional goal during the Turner Cup Finals.
"The Icehawks is a great organization and a great fit for me personally," Bowman said. "My goal is to win a championship. We have always had a great bunch of guys and we want to win for the city. After coming so close in 2008, I want to get it done in Port Huron."
The 24-year old native of Leamington, Ontario will enter his first professional season in which he does not hold rookie status.
"I am very happy to have Kerry return. He is another character guy that we can count on everyday to give 100%" Head Coach and General Manager Stan Drulia said. "His ability to play against the league's best players and kill penalties is outstanding. I expect him to play an even bigger role offensively this season while being responsible in his own end."
