BOSTON - The Boston Pride have signed forward Tereza Vanisova, the all-time leader in points at the University of Maine and a member of the Czech Republic National Team. Vanisova was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NWHL Draft.

"I believe the Pride will win the league next season," said Vanisova. "I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting first NWHL season, and I'm very appreciative of this opportunity to continue to progress as a hockey player and be part of this first-class organization and fantastic team."

At Maine, the elite forward averaged exactly one point a game for her 129-game collegiate career from 2016-2020, with 63 goals and 69 assists for 129 points. In her breakout season as a sophomore, Vanisova was 16-30-46 in 37 games to lead the Black Bears and finish sixth in Hockey East and 11th in the nation in scoring. As a freshman, she led Maine in scoring and was named a co-recipient of Hockey East's Rookie of the Year Award.

"Tereza is one of the best athletes I have ever seen," said Maine head coach Richard Reichenbach. "She has the ability to control the play. She is always thinking offense and is a fierce competitor. She's incredibly strong and loves the challenge of playing against the best in the biggest games."

A native of Strakonice, Vanisova has been a member of the national team of the Czech Republic since she was 13, and has represented her country at the IIHF World Championship and in Olympic qualifiers. She was named the Czech Republic's Female Hockey Player of the Year in 2017.
