BOSTON CANNONS ANNOUNCE "CANNONS IN YOUR COMMUNITY" INITIATIVE TO BRING MAJOR LEAGUE LACROSSE GAMES TO BOSTON-AREA TOWNS

The Cannons will play one game at Hingham High School and two games at Endicott College in 2018, in addition to their home slate at Harvard Stadium

BOSTON, MA  - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today that the club has created a new initiative to bring select regular season home games to two greater Boston communities in 2018. The Cannons will play one game at Hingham High School in Hingham, MA, and two games at Endicott College in Beverly, MA. The "Cannons In Your Community" effort is focused on strengthening the team's community outreach and increasing direct engagement with greater Boston area lacrosse fans.

"We're extremely excited to bring Cannons lacrosse to the communities of the South Shore and North Shore, both are very passionate about the sport," said Cannons President Ian Frenette. "While our game continues to grow at a significant pace, we need to continue to do our part to drive the continued growth and engagement with current and prospective lacrosse fans in their towns. This initiative is going to give fans an even closer look at Cannons action in an intimate environment and provide us the opportunity to reach new fans by bringing the game to their neighborhood."

The Cannons 2018 regular season schedule was released last week and includes seven home games. Along with the three "Cannons in your Community" games, the team will play four games on its standard home field at Harvard Stadium.

The game at Hingham High School will take place on Saturday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. vs. the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Before the Cannons take the field, the Hingham High School boys and girls lacrosse teams will each play a league game for a full day of lacrosse action on the South Shore.

" Hosting the Cannons is a dream come true for the Hingham lacrosse community. We're grateful to have this opportunity to host the greatest players in the game," said Brian Hlidek, Director of Hingham Youth Boys Lacrosse.

The Cannons will head to the North Shore for two games at Endicott. First on June 2 vs. the Florida Launch and then taking on long-time rivals the New York Lizards on June 23. Both games will begin at 6:00 p.m.

"We are thrilled that Cannons President, Ian Frenette and the entire organization has selected Endicott to host these two very important games for the Boston Cannons. The North Shore has always been an historic and rich location providing great youth, high school and college aged players within the lacrosse community, and I see this as a great opportunity to expand this exposure even further," said Brian Wylie, Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics at Endicott.

The Endicott campus will be a familiar home for Cannons Head Coach Sean Quirk, as he spent 18 seasons presiding over the school's lacrosse program.

"It brings me great joy to come back to my coaching roots at Endicott and play two important regular season games on campus," said Coach Quirk. "Knowing the crowds and community support from my time coaching at Endicott, the Cannons are going to have an amazing home field advantage in this atmosphere."

The first two regular season home games and the last two home games of 2018 will be at Harvard Stadium with the Cannons rounding out their regular season schedule on August 4 against the reigning MLL Champions Ohio Machine.
