Boston Cannons News Release

BOSTON, MA - In the second meeting with the Lizards in as many weeks, the Cannons once again came up short in a back and forth battle until the final whistle. The Cannons fell to the Lizards by a final score of 15-12 on Friday evening at James M. Shuart Stadium. New York remains undefeated on the season at 5-0.

The Cannons got off to a fast start scoring 2 goals in the first few minutes of the game. Rob Emery began the scoring at 3:06, followed by Brent Adams a minute later, both unassisted. New York cut the lead in half just moments later, however, on a goal from Tommy Palasek to make it 2-1. Palasek tied it up at 2 with his second goal of the night at 10:17, followed by a Rob Panell goal a minute later.

The Cannons were able to close out the first quarter with goals from Ryan Young and David Emala and headed to the locker room tied at 4.

The second quarter was a quieter one with three New York goals coming from Ned Crotty, Jo-Jo Marasco and another from Rob Panell. Boston got two of their own from Josh Amidon (unassisted) and former Lizard, Max Seibald. Boston went in to the half trailing 6-7.

New York pulled away at the beginning of the third quarter scoring three consecutive goals before Kevin Buchanan, fresh off the NLL in-active list tonight, got one back for Boston. New York responded with two more goals before Seibald swung some momentum back towards Boston with a two-pointer, the only of the night. Buchanan added one more before Steve DeNapoli ended the quarter for New York pulling away 13-10.

The fourth quarter only saw four total goals, two from each side. Pannell and Marasco both tallied for New York and Owen Blye and Brent Adams scored for Boston, but the Cannons once again came up short in a back and forth effort.

The Cannons continue on their quest for 100 wins as an organization, and look to make that a reality next weekend when they return home. The Cannons take on the Rochester Rattlers on May 17th at Gillette Stadium at 6:00pm.
