Boost Mobile NBA D-League National Tryouts to be Held in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Houston

NEW YORK, April 23, 2012 - The NBA Development League, the official minor league of the National Basketball Association, will hold the second annual set of Boost Mobile NBA D-League National Tryouts in Los Angeles(May 12, Next Level Sports Complex), Chicago (June 2, Moody Bible Institute), New York (June 16, Basketball City) and Houston (June 17, Legends Sports Complex). The one-day tryouts will see several hundred athletes participate across the four cities.
The Boost Mobile NBA D-League National Tryouts will challenge NBA D-League hopefuls in each city with full-court games and will enable participants to display their skills for NBA D-League player personnel executives, coaches and industry scouts, with the hopes of gaining eligibility for November's NBA D-League Draft.
"The Boost Mobile NBA D-League Tryouts are an invaluable way for the league to identify prospects by providing talented young players a prime opportunity to showcase their game in front of key NBA D-League team and league officials," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of NBA D-League Basketball Operations and Player Personnel. "Having four tryouts across the country in May and June will give almost 1,000 prospects a chance to take the first step towards the next level of their careers and playing in the NBA Development League."
Of the players who participated in the 2011 National Tryout, 18 players were selected in the 2011 NBA D-League Draft, while 15 prospects spent time on NBA D-League rosters during the 2011-12 season, including Springfield Armor forward Dennis Horner, who earned two GATORADE Call-Ups to the New Jersey Nets, and Otis George, a member of the NBA D-League regular season champion Los Angeles D-Fenders.
As title partner of the NBA D-League Tryouts, Boost Mobile will host a special Chalk Talk featuring an NBA legend prior to the start of each event.
Players wishing to participate must be at least 18-years-old and meet NBA D-League eligibility requirements. The application for the camp and the player waiver form can be downloaded from the league's official website at https://dleaguetryouts.nba.com . Completed forms, along with a $150 payment completed online, need to be received by the League office prior to the day of the tryouts. Included within the fee for participants is an NBA D-League uniform (jersey and shorts), the opportunity to play in a minimum of two games and be seen by official NBA D-League executives and scouts, and an autograph from an NBA Legend. All materials must be received by the deadline and completed in their entirety for the player to be considered for participation in the Boost Mobile NBA D-League National Tryouts.
