
Booi Named Pirates Athletic Trainer

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced that Mike Booi has been named the team's new Athletic Trainer.
"I am elated to have this great opportunity to work for the Pirates and for a superb National Hockey League organization in Phoenix," Booi said. "Portland is such a well-known and successful hockey city and I am really looking forward to establishing this new relationship in an ideal setting."
Booi joins the Pirates after spending the previous season in the ECHL with the Greenville Road Warriors. Prior to his time in Greenville, Booi worked for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as the Athletic Trainer for the school's wrestling program. The 29-year old native of Lake Odessa, MI completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, earning a degree in Kinesiology and received his Master's Degree in Athletic Training at the University of Kentucky where he worked with the Wildcats football team. Booi will administer and oversee all player related medical duties for Portland and assist the Phoenix Coyotes with medical services during the NHL training camp period.
