
Bombers tap Sapp to start crucial series vs. Quincy Gems tonight

Huntingburg, IN, June 18, 2012. There will be a lot on the line tonight and Wednesday at League Stadium when the Quincy Gems come to town. With only 12 games left in the first half of the season, the second place Gems trail the first place Dubois County Bombers by 2 games in the Prospect League's Western Division. The first half of the Prospect League's split season ends Sunday July 1st and the two teams will not meet again until the second half is underway.
Prospect League rules have the winners of the first half in each Division hosting a one game divisional playoff on August 7th against the winner of the second half. . In the event one team wins both halves the team with the next best season long record will be the opponent in the Divisional playoff. The two winners in the Eastern and Western Divisions then move on to a best of three Prospect League Championship series beginning August 9th.
Quincy, currently at 12-6, has been the class of the league the last few years with championships in 2009 and last year. The 14-4 Bombers are looking to write a different script, however, and will tap Jasper native Spencer Sapp for the mound assignment tonight. Alex Britt is slated for the series finale on Wednesday.
