Bombers Roster Nears Capacity As Training Camp Opens March 1st
February 19, 2013 - Lone Star Football League (LSFL)
Abilene Bombers News Release
The Abilene Bombers signed three of the most talented athletes at the Abilene Bomber-San Angelo Bandits joint tryout held in San Angelo. While there was plenty of talent that day, three stood out to the Bomber coaching staff.
Wide Receiver, Terrance Jefferson will join the Bombers for the 2013 season. Jefferson is an indoor football veteran, spending the last 6 years of his career between the IFL and the AF2. "I am excited to have a guy like Terrance with us this season. He brings a lot of experience to our WR group and on top of that he is very explosive in the kick return game. A guy that can provide a spark like Terrance, can swing the momentum of the game in many different areas." Commented, Coach Brannen.
A-Vel McLamb will add depth to the Bombers defensive secondary. McLamb played his college football at Langston University and has spent time with both the Allen Wranglers of the IFL and with the Laredo Rattlesnakes of the LSFL. "A-Vel is a player with tremendous speed", said Coach Brannen, " he is a guy that will not only add depth to our defensive secondary, but could potentially help us out on special teams and possibly at wide receiver. He is an explosive football player with a lot of heart."
Rookie, Tristan Carter joins the Bombers after an exceptional career at Angelo State. He was named to the First All Lonestar Conference Team his senior season, where he recorded 11 touchdowns carries while playing fullback for the Rams. "Tristan showed a ton of athleticism at the workout in San Angelo." Coach Brannen added. "We have a lot of ideas as to where to use Tristan on the football field, other than just running back. He is a ball player that I feel will make an impact wherever he is on the field. I don't think it would be a stretch to say the Bandits feel like they have lost a home town player to us, in Tristan"
The Abilene Bombers are expecting the roster to be complete by the end of this week and look forward to the start of training camp on March 1st. A complete schedule for camp will be released and the public is welcome at all practices. The Bomber's will be hosting 7 home games at the Taylor County Coliseum this year beginning March 9th against the San Angelo Bandits.
