Bolts Open Finals with Blowout Win

(LONDON, ON) - The London Lightning opened up the 2022 National Basketball League of Canada Finals with a dominant 116-91 victory over the visiting KW Titans.

Despite being down four key players, the Titans jumped out to an early lead on the Lightning behind MVP Joel Kindred's 12 first quarter points. KW would control much of the first quarter before the combined effort of Amir Williams and Terry Thomas would see the Bolts and Titans tied up at 31 points apiece. Both teams would continue to trade punches in the second quarter with the Titans taking a narrow 56-53 lead heading into half.

The second half would solely belong to the London and Chris Jones. The 6'0 guard would score 24 of his game-high 39 points in the final 24 minutes of the game with 10 coming in the third and 14 in the fourth. London would outscore the Titans 66-35 in the second half with their lead expanding to as many as 25 points in the fourth.

Chris Jones made his case for Finals MVP by dropping a game-high 39 points while adding 9 rebounds and 4 assists of the bench. Coming off a pre-game ceremony where he was named the NBL Canada's 6th Man and Canadian Player of the Year awards, Terry Thomas added 19 points and 9 rebounds on the night. Jermaine Haley Jr added 18 points while Amir Williams (14 points) and Cam Forte (12 points + 10 rebounds) rounded out the scoring for the Bolts.

Youtuber Jesse Jones led the Titans with 23 points and 9 assists on the night while MVP Joel Kindred added 22 on an ice-cold 8-20 from the field. Tyrrel Tate added 18 as only three KW players reached double figures.
