FC Edmonton's Hanson Boakai will represent Canada at this summer's Pan Am Games, taking place, July 10-26 in Toronto, ON. Boakai is the third member of the Eddies squad to receive a national team call-up following teammates Lance Laing (Jamaica) and Mallan Roberts (Canada) earlier this month.

"It's a testament to the work being done at FC Edmonton that we have a young player representing Canada at the Pan Am Games," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller remarked. "Hanson deserves this opportunity. Having spoken to the CSA I know they are quite high on the young man, so this is another step of his development and his assessment with the CSA. It's a great opportunity for him, we are very proud to see him joining the national team program at any level and along with Mallan Roberts and Lance Laing, people are probably wondering what is going on at FC Edmonton. It comes down to the hard work that everyone at the club is doing."

The team opens competition at the CIBC Hamilton Soccer Stadium on July 12 against world powerhouse Brazil before wrapping up play in Group A with games against Panama on July 16 and Peru on July 20.

The Pan American competition is an Olympic developmental U-22 event and is a valuable opportunity for Canada to gain experience as it prepares for 2016 Olympic qualifying; scheduled to get underway this upcoming fall. Each player on Canada's Pan Am roster is professional, with a strong contingent hailing from Canada's professional clubs.

Eight teams total will compete at the Pan Am Games, with the top-two finishers in each four-team group qualifying for the medal rounds. The Gold Medal Game will take place July 26.
