Bo Knows Arena Football

April 8, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Chicago Rush News Release

Former NFL and Major League Baseball star Bo Jackson will serve as Chicago's honorary captain for the Rush home opener against the Cleveland Gladiators this Friday at Allstate Arena, the Rush announced today.

Jackson, the 1985 Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn, is the first professional athlete to be named an All-Star in two different sports. He was a running back for the Los Angeles Raiders from 1987 to 1990, rushing for 2,782 yards and 16 touchdowns in his four seasons.

In addition to his NFL career, Jackson played baseball for the Kansas City Royals (1986-90), Chicago White Sox (1991, 93) and California Angels (1994), hitting .250 with 141 home runs and 415 RBIs in his seven-plus seasons.

Currently, Jackson lives in Burr Ridge, Illinois and is the founder of the "Give Me A Chance Foundation," which benefits inner-city kids who excel in school but can't afford to participate in athletics. Students who maintain at least a B average and are unable to afford sports equipment or enrollment fees for sports camps, may apply for grants from the foundation.

Good seats for Friday's Rush home opener remain available. Fans wishing to purchase tickets should call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or visit the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets - which range in price from $10 to $60 - also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
