
Blues Look to Continue Winning Streak Before 2016

KANSAS CITY - Reigning National Women's Soccer League Player of the Week Nicole Barnhart leads the two-time champions into Chicago for their final game before the 2016 Rio Olympic Games Break.
The Blues will take on the Red Stars at 7 p.m. CT at Toyota Park. The game will be streamed on the league's YouTube channel.
Barnhart, FC Kansas City's goalkeeper, helped lead the Blues to a 1-0 victory against the Western New York Flash on Saturday with 14 saves on 24 goals. It was her fifth shutout of the season and second in three games.
Shea Groom scored the lone goal in the 60th minute off an assist from Tiffany McCarty. It was her fourth goal in three games, which bumped her into a second-place tie with six goals this season.
The Red Stars are coming off a 1-1 draw with the Houston Dash. Danielle Colaprico scored in the second minute, but the Red Stars gave up the equalizer in the 82nd. They have a two-game unbeaten streak.
FC Kansas City will continue play without Olympians Becky Sauerbrunn, Heather O'Reilly, Katie Bowen and Desiree Scott. Chicago will play without Alyssa Naeher, Julie Johnston and Christen Press.
The Blues will return from the Olympic break on Aug. 28 to host the Boston Breakers at 5 p.m.
