BlueClaws Opening Day, Dollar Weekend Highlight First Homestand

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws will open their 2009 season on April 9th against the Delmarva Shorebirds, beginning a four-game homestand at FirstEnergy Park. The homestand features the World Series Trophy's only visit to Lakewood and 'Dollar Weekend' where tickets to the games from April 10th to April 12th will be sold for $1.

Thursday's game will also begin the first season in baseball history that all kids 12 and under will eat for free at every game.

On Thursday, April 9th, the season begins at 6:35 pm. The World Series Trophy will be on the concourse, and fans will have the opportunity to take a picture with the trophy. Fans must bring their own cameras. The trophy's appearance is part of the World Series Trophy Tour presented by Teva Pharmaceuticals and Comcast SportsNet. Additionally, all fans will receive a free 2009 magnet schedule, courtesy of Pine Belt Chevrolet.

The pre-game ceremonies will include an American Flag flyover coinciding with Anthony Storino's rendition of the National Anthem.

Friday, April 10th marks the beginning of 'Dollar Weekend' presented by APP.com where all reserve seats and general admission tickets will be sold for just $1. Fireworks will follow the 7:05 game, presented by Toyota World of Lakewood. There will be post-game fireworks after every Friday home game and on May 24th and July 2nd.

Saturday, April 11th at 4:05 pm is Buster's Birthday Party, where the first 2,000 fans ages 17 and under will receive a growth chart, thanks to TD Bank. Some of Buster's mascot friends will also be on hand to celebrate his 9th birthday.

On Sunday, the BlueClaws will host an on-field Easter Egg Hunt after their 1:05 pm game where fans 12 and under, and their parents, will be allowed on the field to hunt for eggs which will be scattered across the outfield.

During 'Dollar Weekend', the combination of $1 tickets and kids eating for free means that a family of four, with two children, can come out to the game and feed the kids for just $4.

The Lakewood BlueClaws welcomed 425,166 fans to FirstEnergy Park during the 2008 season which upped their eight-season total to 3,595,378. They have led the South Atlantic League in average or overall attendance in each of their eight seasons.

The BlueClaws announced that all children ages 12 and under, will eat for free at every 2009 home game.
