Evansville BlueCats News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are pleased to announce that one of their adult cheerleaders has been selected to the 2006-07 Indiana Pacers dance team. Tessa Sutton was a 3-year member of the Evansville BlueCats cheerleaders and served as team captain during the 2006 season. She took over the responsibilities as Head Coach late in the season when the previous Head Coach, Eloiza Domingo-Snyder, accepted a new career position in Oxford, Ohio. Tessa will be moving to Indianapolis this fall to join the Pacemates.
Tessa Sutton said, "Dancing for the BlueCats has been an amazing experience over the past three years. The game atmosphere, community involvement, and responsibilities I've held as a BlueCats Cheerleader have prepared me for this. Being a 'professional cheerleader' is something all little girls want to be when they grow up, and I am so happy to get the experience!"
Tessa graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern Indiana this past May with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Advertising. She has been a member of the Evansville BlueCats cheerleading squad for 3 seasons. Aside from the BlueCats, Tessa has been a member of several other dance groups including her high school dance team, the Henderson County Colonelettes, as well as the Kentucky Dance Ensemble while she attended the University of Kentucky. Overall, she has a total of 15 years of dance experience.
The Pacemates dance team tryout process took place over two days with more than 115 young women attempting to make the team. On the first day, the contestants were taught routines which were then performed in small groups for the judges. Two rounds of cuts were made on the first day with only around 30 individuals making it through to the second day. On the second and final day of the tryout, they learned another routine and performed individually for the judges. The girls were informed two days later via telephone if they had made the squad.
The Evansville BlueCats would like to congratulate Tessa on making the Indiana Pacers dance team and wish her the best of luck next season with the Pacemates.
