Valley Blue Sox News Release

HOLYOKE, MA. - The Holyoke Blue Sox used an early game offensive explosion to take down the Utica Brewers in an exhibition game at MacKenzie Stadium, winning by a final tally of 17-1 in front of a crowd of about five hundred fans.

After a scoreless top of the first inning, the Blue Sox struck first, with second baseman Jacob Cronenworth singling up the middle, third baseman Mike Ahmed walking, and then left fielder Jason Lombardozzi hitting a bloop single to right to bring them in.

The Sox continued the offensive onslaught from there, ringing up three more in the second and five in the third to take a 10-0 lead.

Utica struck for a run in the sixth, but Holyoke finished out the scoring in the unusual game, scoring six in the seventh and tacking on one more in the eighth for the final score.

"It was a nice win," said head coach Darryl Morhardt after the game. "Our hitters took good swings...we came ready to play, so it was nice to see."

The Blue Sox continue their exhibition schedule tomorrow at 6:35 PM when they play host to the Latin All-Stars.

Tickets are $6, and fans will be invited to take part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people doing the Macarena at one time.
