The Holyoke Blue Sox (6-8) and the Danbury Westerners (6-8) traded the lead four times on Sunday, but the Holyoke Blue Sox ended up on top with a 7-2 win over the Danbury Westerners.
Danny Diekroeger racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Holyoke Blue Sox. He doubled in the eighth inning.
David Speer picked up the win for the Holyoke Blue Sox. Speer allowed no earned runs, eight hits and one walk while striking out five over nine innings of work.
A bright spot for the Danbury Westerners in the defeat was Isaac Sterman, who allowed only zero runs while striking out five. Fred Breidenbach was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out four.
