Valley Blue Sox News Release

HOLYOKE, Mass. - The Blue Sox are on speed dial today, signing Franklin Pierce outfielder John Razzino to the roster for the upcoming season, Assistant General Manager Wesley Lavalley announced today.

Razzino, a junior for the defending East Region Champion Ravens, has been scorching at the plate and on the basepaths, batting .293 with a four home runs and sits second in the Northeast-10 Conference in RBI with 24 through 32 games. He leads the league and is fourth in the nation in stolen bases with 33, including an impressive 5 swipes in one game last weekend against American International College.

"He's a great runner who has some pop behind his bat and a lean athletic build," Lavalley said. "He's taken a lot of strides this year and has a better grasp of what it takes - his plate discipline has vastly improved and that will make him a solid top of the order guy."

Razzino is no stranger to the NECBL, having played last season for North Adams and Danbury. He went 6-for-8 in stolen base attempts with the Steeplecats in 21 games for them.
