Valley Blue Sox News Release

Holyoke, MA - The 2013 Holyoke Blue Sox roster will sport a new look as players come and go each season, but the 2013 schedule will also have a brand new look as well.

On Wednesday, the Holyoke Blue Sox organization officially released the 2013 schedule, which includes 45 games in total, with two exhibitions in that count.

"We are really excited about the new year for the Holyoke Blue Sox organization," CEO and COO Barry Wadsworth said. "Not only for the team is it exciting but also the fans that we will have some of the best collegiate talent coming right here to Holyoke to play summer ball. Also this season the fans will get to see brand new teams from new parts of New England, and that is exciting as well."

The Blue Sox will spend the majority of the beginning of the season at home hosting the Utica Brewers in an exhibition game on June 4 at Mackenzie Stadium before opening the season on the road on June 6 against the Sanford Mainers.

Holyoke will finally get to play a NECBL regular season game in front of its fans on June 7 as the newly created Ocean State Waves come into town for the home season opener of the Blue Sox.

The home opener marks one of 11 home games in the month of June for the Blue Sox, with the longest home stand spanning from June 20-24, four games in that stretch. Holyoke ends the month at home with a three-game home stand and a day off.

In July, the Blue Sox spend a little more time at home after opening the month away from Mackenzie Stadium, the Blue Sox return home for their first home stretch of the month, including a little Independence Day baseball.

Holyoke welcomes division-rival Danbury into town for the July 4th meeting, marking the first trip to Holyoke for the Westerners in the 2013 campaign up to that point.

July will also mark a big month for the Blue Sox with big playoff implications on the line as 17 of their 22 opponents will be out of the Western Division.

Holyoke will wrap up the 2013 regular season on August 2 as the Blue Sox travel to Keene to battle the Swamp Bats, the final regular season home game for Holyoke is set for August 1 against the Vermont Mountaineers.

If Holyoke makes the playoffs, August 4 will mark the beginning of the postseason and runs until August 12 when a champion will be crowned.

All home Holyoke Blue Sox games are set for 6:35 p.m. first pitches at MacKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Massachusetts. For more game information and ticket info check out www.holyokesox.com.
