Brevard Blue Ducks News Release
Melbourne, Florida â Another season, another chance for hoop hopefuls to fulfill their dreams and turn pro.
The Brevard Blue Ducks will hold their open tryouts for the 2004 season on Saturday, March 27th at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech in Melbourne.
Tryouts will begin at 9:00AM and will run all day. Registration is at 8:15 AM. Cost will be $125 if registered and paid in advance, or $150 at the door. Checks will be accepted only if paid in advance.
The Blue Ducks are a member of the United States Basketball League (USBL), which serves as a minor league to the NBA. In its 18-year existence, over 140 players have graduated from the USBL to the NBA. Stars such as Avery Johnson, Spud Webb, Monute Bol, Mugsy Bouges, Chris Childs, Anthony Mason and Darrell Armstrong all got their start in the USBL.
Last year, the Blue Ducks invited two players from their tryout camp back to veteran's camp and eventually kept both for their team.
"We were very pleased with the level of talent we saw at our camp last year and hope that we have as good a showing this year. We take the open tryouts very seriously and wound up keeping several players from the camp on the Blue Ducks squad for the season. Those players are now following their dream of playing professional basketball," stated Mike Richman, Blue Ducks owner.
For a tryout registration form or for more information, visit the Blue Ducks website at www.BrevardBlueDucks.com or call (321) 751-2583. Registration forms are also available at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech. The tryouts are open to the public to watch.
