Brevard Blue Ducks News Release
Boston, MA â After the intra-squad practices, after the games, after all the hype on LeBron James, life goes on for NBA hopefuls following the end of the Pepsi/NBA summer league in Orlando.
Now it's on to other NBA cities as the search for tomorrow's NBA stars continues.
The Reebock/NBA Summer League takes place in Boston starting today and continues through July 20th. At the same time, the Summer Pro League kicks off in Los Angeles, followed by another Reebock/NBA summer league in Utah from July 18th â 26th.
In each of these cities, draft picks, free agents and other prospects will be showing their skills to the NBA teams that picked them â as well as scouts from other NBA teams.
And there will be more Brevard Blue Ducks among them.
Blue Ducks center Ousmanne Cisse played for the Orlando Magic in the Pepsi/NBA league this past week. Guard Donta Richardson (6'2"/170 lbs. â Wyoming '03) and forward Raheim Brown (6'10"/220lbs. â Florida Atlantic '02) both saw time for the Detroit Pistons.
Joining teams for the Reebock/NBA Summer League in Boston will be former Blue Duck Bogdan Karebin, a 6'7" 225 lb. forward, who will play for the Celtics and 6'8" 205 lb. forward, Terrence Shannon, who will play for the New Jersey Nets.
Another 6'8" 205 lb. forward, DeeAndre Hulett, who was expected to participate in the Summer Pro League in California, was just released from the Toronto Raptors.
D.J. Harrison, a 6'11" 240 lb. center, who was a rookie last year for the Blue Ducks, will see action for the Denver Nuggets.
"It's great to see all those NBA teams taking a look at our Blue Ducks," commented team president, Mike Richman. "It proves that the talent level in the USBL is among the best in the world. That's why over 140 players have made it from the USBL to the NBA."
Duck Notes: Though he received limited playing time, Ducks center Ousmanne Cisse impressed a lot of NBA scouts as well as the Magic coaching staff with his athletic ability. Averaging only 10 minutes a game in five games, Cisse led the Magic in blocked shots with seven and wound up third in the league in blocks-per-game with a 1.40 average. He also pulled down 12 rebounds â 6 defensive and 6 offensive.
